Italian Garante pauses Replika over GDPR risk to minors.
Italy’s data protection authority ordered the immediate suspension of Replika’s processing of Italian users’ data, ruling that the personal AI chatbot violated the GDPR’s lawful-basis and transparency obligations and posed unacceptable risks to minors and emotionally vulnerable users.
